Ahoy there! Yard sale off the starboard bow!

(Sorry.)

Last weekend, I decided to skip the yard-sailing.  I just wasn’t coming up with much, and it’s a whole lotta effort for me to get up early on Saturday, after a week of that mess.  But at about 10am, I did have to go over to Fort Mill on an errand, and as I was coming back, I saw a big yard sale with a ton of furniture.  Ugh.  So I stopped, and picked up one little table which was at the high end of what I wanted to pay, but this family had been collecting old things for a long time and knew its worth.

There were a pair of them, and this one was in the best condition.  No glue or screws needed, which is always nice.

I painted it blue first, thinking it would look sophistocated.  The table wasn’t really feeling it.

Perhaps its style is too “cute” to pull off sophistocated.  Maybe a little nautical detail?  I love all things nautical, and since there is always the looming possibility that these things won’t sell, it’s wise to paint them as if they’re for my own house.

With some cute knobs (picked out by Sarah) and some decorative painting on the top, I think it’s a happy side table.  I hope it finds a nice forever home.  (Even if it has to be mine.)

(The top was done with a very low tech method – I printed a graphic and traced it directly on top.  Since it had already been waxed, it left a very clear impression that I could easily paint by.  No projectors, no stencils, no reverse transfers, no fuss.  Just easy-peasy, that’s me.)

    • Thanks, Beth! I love what you did with your chairs – sorry I haven’t commented there, but I’m having a heck of a time commenting on Blogger sites. I’m sure it’s me, and I’ll try to figure it out. :)
