SO! I finished Madame Julie’s oak dining table, yes, but in other news, I began working full-time again last Monday. What a wild week! The kids were getting used to their new routine as well, and the cats were getting used to not being fed every four hours (not what I ever should have been doing anyway, but THEY ARE SO MANY. Fergus can get kind of scary when he’s hungry.) I’m at The Gaston Gazette, selling advertising again! Cause apparently, once you’ve done that, you aren’t fit for anything else.
So far, so good. I’m enjoying getting out and talking to people, which is the main part of the job. Once the weather cools down a little and I’m not sweating all over my seersucker, I should enjoy it even more.
To make coming home at 6pm even more pleasant, I’m trying my best to finish up a few projects and de-clutter the abode. This little end table was the result of a trip to Goodwill about a month ago. I promised myself right off the bat to keep it simple. Promises were made to be broken, though, weren’t they?
My original intent was to refinish the top and paint the base white, but my stain didn’t come out as dark as I expected, so I altered my plan. Instead I whitewashed the top for a beachy effect. Then for the base, I mixed ASCP Aubusson with Old White and got this lovely shade of blue.
Hey, things change, roll with it. Can’t say I’m too sorry about how it worked out.
